SMS Lingo is a shortened language used for typing text messages in mobile phones. It is also known as Textese. SMS language is a parlance of English that sabotages letters and numbers to produce extreme brief words. Making the SMS files concise; helps in better utilization of storage space in mobile phones.
In this paper, idea for optimized utilization of space for SMS files is proposed by using a compression technique. This technique is based on semantic dictionary on the SMS files.
By default compression of SMS file is in the internal phone memory, saved in inbox, will help in optimizing the storage space required by normal SMS files.
Making the SMS concise will help in holding maximum information in the 160 character space provided per short message supported by Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM). This in turn will reduce the cost and SMS traffic across the network.
