Curcumin is a polyphenol with multiple biological activities, but it has very poor solubility in water, which limits its application. The aim of this study was to design a nanocomposite using zein and bentonite to control the release of curcumin under the conditions of pH = 7.4 and 5. FTIR spectroscopy confirmed that curcumin binds to zein through hydrogen bonding. In laboratory conditions, drug release was studied using UV-Vis spectroscopy in acidic conditions (pH = 5) and physiological pH (pH = 7.4) and its release was compared with curcumin alone. The results showed that the release of curcumin at pH = 5 is faster than at pH = 7.4.
