This paper demonstrates an mm-wave frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) radar to simultaneously measure multiple stationary patients’ breathing and heart rates. The proposed algorithm cancels the background interference and applies fast-Fourier-transform on fast-time samples to measure the location and on slow-time samples to measure the breathing and heart rates. The algorithm is implemented on a commercially available Infineon’s "Position2Go" module, which is one transmit and two receive antenna FMCW radar and operates at 24GHz. In contrast to the reported systems, our inexpensive system can reliably measure multiple patients’ vital signs and localize them in range. The proposed system can find applications in the healthcare system by offering a centralized inexpensive wireless vital sign monitoring of multiple patients without fixing any probe on the patient’s body.
