Effect on high birefringence gold coated elliptical PCF polarisation filter based on SPR is investigated in details. The proposed elliptical PCF have 3 air hole ring of different dimension arranged in a specific mode potential to gain high birefringence and gold is coated inside the elliptical air holes to generate surface Plasmon’s. A full vectorially 2D FDTD method is applied to analyse the guiding properties of proposed elliptical PCF depending on SPR. By improving the elliptical air hole of different parameter in cladding region, achieve one state of polarisation to propagation through the filter while the other state being attenuated. Beside this, we investigated the confinement loss of x polarised mode of 0.0218 dB/cm and corresponding y polarisation mode of 440.2dB/cm at an operating wavelength of 1.55µm. In addition an extinction ratio of proposed PCF of 330 dB/cm is determined while choosing the proposed PCF filter length being 1mm. The above proposed PCF length is set to 50µm and bandwidth being 300nm which is better than the previous reported literature. Based on above mentioned characteristics; the proposed PCF polarisation filter can be applied in compact and broadband filters in communication arena.
