An analysis of the variable stars projectedon the field of the Galactic bulge globular cluster NGC6522 is presented. We aimed to differentiate betweenfield stars and true cluster members, and to use ofthe later as indicators of distance and metallicity ofthe cluster. The light curves employed were obtainedfrom the OGLE III and OGLE IV databases, supple-mented with data provided by the Gaia-DR3. Vari-ables of the types RR Lyrae, type II Cepheids, Long Pe-riod giants (LPV) and eclipsing binaries were detectedand their peculiarities were discussed. The proper mo-tions from Gaia-DR3 of were employed to distinguishcluster member stars from field objects. A differen-tial reddening map enabled the production of a cleaner Color-Magnitude diagram. From three RRc clustermember stars we derived [Fe/H]_UVES=–1.16 ±0.09; and D = 8.77 ± 0.16 kpc. The variable V24 with a promi-nent phase modulation resulting from period changesin a time scale of ∼ 1100 days is discussed.
