Intersections are the major part of road networks as they connect various parts of the city situated in different directions. Designing the intersections plays a vital role in the development of roadways specially in urban areas. This paper mainly concentrates on designing the selected intersection by designing it as a Roundabout using IRC guidelines. In reference to the 2D model of the existing intersection, a 3D model of the designed roundabout for the study area is done using Auto CAD software. The traffic capacity of the designed roundabout is determined by using highest peak hour traffic count. In order to ensure pedestrian safety, a pedestrian delay time survey is conducted and the average pedestrian delay time is determined. As per the designed roundabout, a software modelling is done using the PTV VISSIM student version and traffic simulation is carried out.
