Research Square, a mission-driven business focused on supporting researchers with publication, announces that its multidisciplinary preprint platform, also called Research Square, posted its 10,000th preprint this week. This comes just 14 months after the platform first began accepting submissions through In Review, a journal-integrated preprint service developed in partnership with Springer Nature.
This achievement is an important milestone, not only because the growth of content on the platform has been so rapid, but also because it demonstrates that journal-integrated preprinting is helping to drive uptake and awareness of this increasingly important channel for early sharing of research.
“Preprinting is still only recognized and adopted by less than 3% of the biomedical research community according to statistics from ASAPbio, a scientist-driven nonprofit working to promote innovation and transparency in life sciences communication. But through In Review, the author uptake has averaged 39% and is clearly set to change the statistics going forward. Our thanks go to the editors who screen the preprints before they are posted and to the authors who have supported the platform by posting their preprints.” - Rachel Burley, President of Research Square
